  1. How can I book a DGCA medical examination?

    The Aircrew Medical Examination of any type can be booked on this web page by selecting pilot type > verify mobile number (Indian) > fill details > pick a slot, and complete payment of ₹5,000/-.

  2. What documents am I required to bring along on the day of medical?

    • You are required to bring an original Government issued Photo ID (Preferable Passport / Aadhar Card / Driving License / Pan Card / Voter ID Card).
    • Also, the ID number of the ID that you used to create eGCA ID is must.
    • You will need to bring a copy of your last CA – 35 (Medical Certificate) and Medical Assessment (If issued).
  3. How long does a typical Class – 1 or Class – 2 Medical Examination take?

    • Typically, if you have reported in time and all parameters are found to be within limits as per the guidelines, your medical will conclude by 5:00 PM.
    • However, if any investigation is found beyond permissible limits or reveals an infection or values borderline high, same may be required to be repeated on next or subsequent days.
    • In case of findings where deliberations and opinions of other specialists are mandated, the medical may conclude on next or subsequent days.
    • Having said that all efforts shall be made to conclude medical and issue certificate in shortest possible time, i.e. one day.
  4. How much do I have to pay after paying booking fee of ₹5,000/-?

    • The total charges for the minimum mandated requirement for the medical exam specific to your case shall be communicated to you before commencing the process.
    • Rest assured, the amount of ₹5,000/- will be deducted from the total amount.
    • Depending on the type of medical the packages (number of investigations) can range from ₹12,000/- to ₹22,000/-. However, it must be understood that this is the cost of examination including mandated investigations as per FCL 03 of 2025. In case additional investigations or opinions are mandated in your medical assessment, they will be in addition to the package charges. Cost of any investigation or opinion by super specialist deemed necessary by the President Medical Board / Aviation Medicine Specialist would also be in addition to the package cost.
  5. When do I need NOC (No Objection Certificate) for my medical, from DGCA?

    • You will need an NOC from DGCA for following type of medicals.
    • Class – 1 / Class – 2 (Re-Initial) – When medical has lapsed for a year or more.
    • Early Class – 1 / Class – 2 Renewal – When you wish to renew more than 45 days before the date of validity. The Early renewal NOC can only be applied for after 1/2 the duration of the medical validity is over. For example, if your validity was 1 year, then early medical can only be applied for (with NOC) after 6 months from last medical date till 45 days before validity date.
  6. How do I apply for NOC?

    Login to your eGCA > Medical Services > Apply for NOC > Select Class – 1 or Class – 2 > On Left – Select Delayed / Special / Early > on Right, Select Renewal / Initial / Re-Initial > Scroll down to write reason for NOC > on right upload your last Medical Assessment / Unfitness letter > Choose Aeromedical Evaluation Centre > in drop down choose Ruby Hall Clinic > Check on declaration and submit.

  7. What is the difference between Medical Certificate (CA – 35) issued by the AME / Evaluation Centre and Medical Assessment issued by the DGCA?

    • CA – 35 is the Medical Certificate issued by examiner or Aeromedical Evaluation centre at the end of your medical. This may have a validity date. In such cases your validity is as mentioned. However, DGCA may still decide to issue a medical assessment after review.
    • Medical Assessment is the final decision of your fitness arrived at by the DGCA after review of your medical process and certificate. This will have your validity date and recommendations that are mandatorily to be followed at the time of next renewal / review.
  8. When is Medical Assessment mandatory and when do I need it?

    • The DGCA has reviewed the policy on issue of Medical Assessment which is mandated in certain conditions and may not be required in others. These conditions differ for Class – 1 & Class – 2.
    • These conditions can be referred to in the Public Notice Issued by the DGCA dated 15 July 2025 titled “Requirement of DGCA Medical Assessments Class 1/2/3 Medical Examinations”. This can be found on the DGCA Website.
  9. Why is there a difference in the recommendations of my medical certificate and medical assessment?

    The DGCA after a thorough review by the medical assessor at the DGCA may agree or may not agree with the examiner being too stringent or lenient and may give a decision on medical assessment which is final and binding.

  10. What does IAF Boarding Centre mean?

    IAF BC or IAF Boarding Centre is “Indian Air Force Boarding Centres”. These are:

    • Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM Bangalore)
    • Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME, New Delhi)
    • Medical Evaluation Centre East (MEC East, Jorhat Assam)
  11. What does IAF Medical Centre Mean?

    IAF Medical centres are the Station Medicare Centres of the Air Force stations across the country. These centres are Indian Air Force centres which are authorised to conduct class one renewal on behalf of the DGCA.

  12. What does Aeromedical Evaluation Centre Mean?

    Aeromedical Evaluation Centres are the recognised and reputed hospitals authorised and empanelled by DGCA to conduct all type of medicals on behalf of DGCA. These civil centres are total 10 in number across the country and are empowered to carry out all types of class 1, 2 and 3 medicals.

  13. What does the remark “Next Renewal at IAF Boarding Centre Only” or “Next Renewal at IAF BC Only” on my medical assessment mean?

    • Means that your next renewal can only be done at Indian Air Force boarding centres only and cannot be done by DGCA empanelled examiner or a civil aeromedical evaluation centre.
    • However, such a remark was in vogue till recently until aeromedical evaluation centres were empanelled. Hence, it may be prudent to clarify from DGCA by means of applying for NOC to confirm whether your medical can be done at Aeromedical Evaluation Centres in view of the stated remark of IAF boarding centres only.
    • These cases are decided by the DMS at the DGCA on case-to-case basis.
  14. What does the remark “Next Renewal at IAM Bangalore only” on my medical Assessment mean?

    • The remark categorically means that your next renewal can only be done at Institute of Aerospace Medicine Bangalore only.
    • This remark is invariably endorsed once it is discerned from your medical that the assessment requires human engineering evaluation.
    • These cases are decided by the DMS at the DGCA on case-to-case basis.
  15. What does the remark “Next Renewal at IAM Bangalore / AFCME New Delhi only” on my medical Assessment mean?

    Remark refers to the requirement of renewal at these 2 centres only. This involves certain conditions like post cardiac event or colour vision abnormalities.

  16. What does the remark “Next Renewal at IAF BC / Medical Evaluation Centre” on my medical Assessment mean?

    This remark means that your next renewal can only be done at Indian Air Force boarding centre or civil medical evaluation centre; however, it cannot be done by a DGCA empanelled Aviation Medical Examiner or Air Force station centres.

  17. What are the remarks I am likely to get in my medical examination?

    After your medical examination in your CA 35 may be:

    • PIC (Pilot in Command) with no limitations
    • PIC with QEP (Qualified Experienced Pilot)
    • Fit to fly as copilot only
    • Temporary unfit
    • Permanent unfit

    You may also get some remarks pertaining to additional investigation that would be required at the time of your next renewal. The remarks may also include a specific place where your renewal can be done.

  18. What does PIC with No Limitation Means?

    PIC with no limitations means you are fit to fly as pilot in command of the aircraft with no limitations.

  19. Does PIC with No limitation always mean that my next renewal will always be routine?

    • Additional remarks may include certain investigation that you would be required to do at the time of your next renewal.
    • There is also a possibility that the renewal duration may be reduced to 6 months, in case a disability or a disease is observed at the time of medical like impaired fasting glucose that is IFG or pre diabetes.
  20. What does PIC with QEP Mean?

    PIC with QEP means that you are fit to fly as pilot in command with qualified experienced pilot on type only.

  21. What does a Temporary Unfitness mean?

    Temporary unfit means that you are assessed unfit to exercise the privileges of your license due to an infirmity, disability or a disease identified at the time of medical. The term temporary refers to a certain duration that is decided by the aviation medical examiner at the time of issuing certificate.

  22. What is Permanent Unfit remark?

    The term permanent unfit is used to decide disposal after medical examination when a disease or disability or an infirmity that is identified is not compatible for assessment of an individual for safe flight operations as flight crew. The disability or disease identified is likely to improve in future with a minimal chance of an applicant or aircrew to come back to flying as long as the disability remains.

  23. What is appeal process?

    Whenever an applicant or an air crew is not in agreement with the decision of the medical board or aviation medical examiner about the disposal or remarks endorsed in the CA 35, he is empowered to file an appeal against the decision of the medical board. The process for the same will be apprised to any individual at the end of the medical by the president medical board.

  24. What is the process to register a complaint / grievance? At what level my complaint / grievance will be addressed?

    As far as the Aeromedical Evaluation Centre at the Ruby Hall Clinic is concerned any complaint or a grievance may be registered with the president medical board, the Medical Director of Ruby Hall Clinic or, if required, will be communicated to the DMS at the DGCA headquarters through proper channel. To provide the redressal for such complaints or grievances would be 5 to 7 working days.

  25. Am I supposed to do all tests before coming for medical?

    Negative, when you have booked a medical at Ruby Hall Clinic it may be appreciated that all investigations and specialist opinions will be obtained at Ruby Hall Clinic. Where the medical assessment mandates that the review will be done with the opinion of a particular specialist the same will be communicated to you at the time of booking appointment.

    Notwithstanding, the reports and the opinions may be permitted by the president medical board in exceptional circumstances. These circumstances would invariably include when the individual is required to report with the treatment certificate by the treating physician or surgeon or in case such a test is not available at Ruby Hall which is highly unlikely.

  26. Am I supposed to get past treatment documents to my medical?

    Yes, always.

  27. Am I bound to do and pay for all investigations during my medical?

    Most of the investigations communicated to you as per your age and your requirements of medical for example age is specific medical will be part of the package. However, in case any additional medical investigations or opinions are obtained by the president medical board or aviation medicine specialist, they would cost over and above the package cost.

  28. Can a medical test be done without my written consent?

    Applying for medical and agreeing to undergo medical examination for ascertaining fitness for flight duties automatically implies consent, referred to as ‘implied consent’.

  29. What if I refuse to do a particular test?

    If a particular test is deemed necessary by the President Medical Board, to arrive at a decision for ascertaining fitness and is imperative in aeromedical decision making, then in such a case your medical would be rendered ‘incomplete’ and the incomplete medical will then be submitted to the DGCA in which case the DGCA will issue the medical assessment or an unfitness letter accordingly. The certificate issued to you and such cases in all likelihood would be a certificate of temporary or permanent unfitness.

  30. What if I wish to discontinue my medical?

    After commencement of medical process if at any time, you choose to discontinue the medical process the proceedings as it is will be submitted to the DMS at the DGCA as incomplete medical. The final outcome in all such cases would be unfit to fly for flying duties.

  31. What if I wish to defer my medical to a later date?

    If for some reasons even after reporting, your availability for the continued process is not possible then with permission of the president medical board the remaining process can be deferred for some time as per the decision by the president medical board however this duration has to be within 30 days for completion of medical. This will be only under exceptional circumstances. However one may understand that your last medical validity ceases to exist moment you have reported for the present medical. One may be extra careful and not exercising the privileges of license till the medical is complete and fitness certificate is issued.

  32. Can I continue to undertake flying operations while my medical examination is continuing but delayed due to additional test requirements?

    Negative, your past medical certificate will be rendered invalid immediately as you start with the process of medical examination and you should not undertake flying operations till such time your medical is complete and you are assessed fit.

  33. What if I wish to reschedule my appointment?

    Deciding on a date of appointment and payment of advance you will be allowed to reschedule your appointment on one occasion only. However you must ensure that the rescheduling does not go beyond the date of your validity in which case you would be required to obtain NOC from the DGCA.
