What is a DGCA Medical Examination?

A DGCA medical examination assesses your physical and mental fitness to operate aircraft safely. It includes various tests and evaluations based on the class of medical certificate required.

Medical Certificate Classes

Class I Medical Certificate

Required for Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), and other professional pilot licenses.

Valid for 12 months (under 40 years) or 6 months (40+ years)
Most comprehensive examination
Includes cardiovascular, neurological, and psychological assessments

Class II Medical Certificate

Required for Private Pilot License (PPL) and other non-commercial licenses.

Valid for 60 months (under 40 years) or 24 months (40+ years)
Less stringent than Class I
Covers essential health parameters

Class III Medical Certificate

Required for Air Traffic Controllers and certain cabin crew members.

Valid for 24 months (under 40 years) or 12 months (40+ years)
Focuses on communication and perception abilities

Requirements Before Your Appointment

• Fasting for 10-12 hours (water allowed)
• Bring valid government-issued photo ID
• Previous medical certificates (if applicable)
• Prescription glasses/contact lenses if used
• List of current medications
